Best Time to Visit Cabo San Lucas: A Month-by-Month Guide
The sun shows up in Cabo roughly 350 days a year — so the real question isn't whether to go, but what you want when you get there: whales, marlin, empty beaches, or the lowest rates.

- High season (Dec–Apr): Peak weather, whale watching, holidays and spring break. Highest demand and rates — book a villa 2–4 months out.
- Shoulder (May & Nov): The sweet spot — great weather, thinner crowds, better value.
- Green season (Jun–Oct): Hot and humid, warmest ocean, best sportfishing, lowest prices. September is the wettest, storm-prone month.

Cabo San Lucas month by month
January – March
Prime time. Dry, sunny days in the high 70s to low 80s°F, cooling to the mid-50s at night — pack a light layer for evenings. This is peak whale watching as grey and humpback whales pass through, and March adds spring-break energy. It's the busiest and priciest stretch of the year, so book a villa well ahead.
April
The tail end of high season — still gorgeous, with whales winding down around mid-month and crowds easing once Easter passes. A great time to catch peak weather with slightly better availability.
May
Arguably the best all-rounder: warm, dry, calm seas, fewer people and rates starting to drop. If you want high-season weather at shoulder-season prices, this is it.
June
Warming up, the ocean turning swim-perfect, and the fishing heating up — solid value before the peak of summer heat.
July – August
Hot and humid (upper 80s to 90s°F) with warm water and a lively marlin bite. Fewer international travelers means the best villa deals of the year for those who don't mind the heat.
September
The quietest month — and the wettest. This is the heart of hurricane season, so expect the occasional storm and the deepest discounts if you're flexible.
October
Heat and humidity ease, and the calendar lights up: the legendary Bisbee's Black & Blue marlin tournament and Cabo's live-music scene make it a local favorite. Excellent weather-to-value ratio.
November
Shoulder-season gold — warm, dry and uncrowded, with rates climbing back toward the holidays. Book early if you're eyeing Thanksgiving.
Local tip
Our team's quiet favorite is October into early November: the summer humidity has broken, the sea is still bath-warm (around 84°F), the marlin tournaments bring a buzz to the marina, and villa rates are a fraction of December's — all before the high-season crowds arrive.
Best time for… (pick your priority)

- Lowest prices & fewest crowds: September to early November, and late spring (May–June).
- The big scene (nightlife, events, holidays): December–March, plus October's tournament season.
A note on weather and hurricanes
Cabo is dry and sunny most of the year — annual rainfall is minimal. The exception is August through October, the Eastern Pacific hurricane season, with September the most active. Direct hits are rare, but it's smart to watch the forecast and consider travel insurance if you book those months.
