When to visit
The best weather runs October through June — warm, dry days and cool evenings — and it is also when the Thursday-evening Art Walk is in full swing (roughly November to June), a great reason to time your stay. Whale-watching season runs December to April. Summer (July to September) is hotter and quieter, with lower rates and a very relaxed town. San José stays calm and walkable year-round, never a party strip even in high season.
